Flight Of The Bumblebee

A sure sign that spring has finally arrived after much snow, rain and cold weather are the many bugs and buds and birds that are arriving. This sia Bumblebee I snapped with my Tokina 10-17 Fisheye.

I have also not yet figured out why the pictures off my main server are not working but the ones from Flickr are. For the time being I will go back to using Flickr. Enjoy!

Overdue Update

Hey Everyone,

It has been quite a while since I have a made a post. The reason being that I have been having some trouble with the servers that host my photos and since this is primarily a photoblog that is not good. I haven't got a clue what the problem is because I can upload and view the pictures just fine, I seem to be able to link to them with out problem and yet for some reason they refuse to display.

Please bear with me until I get things sorted out and keep checking in.

Cheers,
Danny Boy

In Studio Wtih Kristine, Nadia, Randi & Sarah

On Friday I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot with a few of my friends at the University of Manitoba studio. This was only my second ever shoot in a studio and despite a bit of a frustrating start with a broken wireless receiver and temperamental lighting equipment a good time was had by all.

The girls were all naturals at posing, being pretty and having a fun time. So, with out further ado here are the rest of those pictures:

I want to give a special thanks to the models: Kristine, Nadia, Randi & Sarah as well as Melissa without whom I would not have been able to do this shoot.

Look out for another post coming soon about the behind the scenes of this shoot. I will have more pictures and maybe try to explain a little about how everything works at a shoot like this.

Puppy Love

And it is just in time for valentines day too. This is my friends new 3 month old black lab cross. His name is Pancho and he is just about the cutest most playful thing you will ever come across. Although Pancho has plenty of his own toys he just couldn't resist trying to gnaw on my camera so it was hard to get a shot in before having to dodge out of the way. Fortunately I had more stamina than him and eventually he settled down a little.

More of Pancho:

This also gave me a perfect opportunity to try out some of my new gear and software. A homemade bounce card (really just printer paper and a rubber band) and a hand strap I got to instead of the bulky neck strap that I found got in my way more often than I used it. The post processing was done in Adobe Lightroom 2.0 and Photoshop CS4 both of which I will try to post about more later.

I should also mention this is the first time I have shot entirely in RAW.

A New Template

I am implementing a new template which utilizes java to create a really cool effect for viewing pictures. Click the image below to see what I am talking about.

This shot was taken during a shoot with the UofM photo club at the English gardens in Assiniboine Park.

Autumn Colours

Autumn is in full swing these days. The days are getting shorter and the temprature is sinking steadily. On the upside of this however are the amazing colours that have shown up this year.

Mine! Mine!

I don't shoot enough lately. This was shot on my weekend trip up to Gimli. The scene reminded me of Finding Nemo except that there are no ninja crabs.

September in Gimli

I went to Gimli for some R&R this weekend and even though the weather was good formost of the trip it turned cloudy on the last day when I finally took the camera out. More pictures can be found on my Flickr page.

Leaves at Dusk

I just purchased a Canon 70-200 F4L lens today and couldn't wait to get home from work to unpack it and test it out. This is a quick shot I snapped of some leaves on a tree in our front yard beautifully silhouetted by a marvelous sunset.
